UPDATE: A standoff that began with a domestic violence call in Clifton ended peacefully when the barricaded man overdosed on drugs, authorities said. A Passaic County Sheriff's SWAT team had waited patiently before entering the Richfield Village apartment on Braun Place off Clifton Avenue around 10 p.m. Friday, ending a standoff that began more than 3½ hours earlier. You don't see this every day: Police responding to a stolen car crash in Clifton said they found the driver and his female passenger both naked on the sidewalk. Both seemed to be under the influence of some type of drug when city officers found them in the 400 block of Clifton Avenue around 11:30 p.m., Detective Lt. Robert Bracken said. Clifton PD: Detectives Smash Two-Man Crime Wave, Solve Dozens Of Burglaries In Several Towns
Dozens of home burglaries in more than a dozen towns were cracked when Clifton detectives caught two middle-aged ex-cons – one of them a former Paterson public works employee – moments after a local break-in, authorities said.
