A 36-year-old Passaic County woman is facing charges in Bergen County after authorities say she stole $400,000 from her employer, officials announced. Briana Rodriguez embezzled the money through unauthorized refunds to accounts under her control through her role as a medical billing professional, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. SUV Knocked Onto Roof In Westwood Pickup Crash
Police are investigating a crash at a busy Westwood intersection that knocked an SUV onto its roof. No serious injuries were immediately reported when a Dodge RAM pickup truck t-boned a GMC Yukon at the corner of Broadway and Irvington Street, next to the NJ Transit tracks, shortly after 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15. An armed Clifton homeowner confronted and apparently scared off a group of vehicle thieves by firing a gunshot into the air, authorities said. A Rockland County bicyclist was hospitalized after an SUV struck him on a Mahwah road a mile or so from the state line. The 40-something victim was "lucid and responsive at the scene" following the crash on Island Road at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, Mahwah Police Chief Timothy O'Hara said. Police in Newark are investigating the death of a 40-year-old found with head trauma and lacerations in broad daylight, they said. Michael Castro, a city resident, was found by officers responding to a service call on the 100 block of Stone Street around 12:25 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. A 33-year-old driver from Bergen County who was stopped in Morris County found a novel to avoid paying tolls, authorities there said. Needless to say, it wasn't exactly legal.
