Glen Rock Man, 70, Charged For Attack On Crossing Guard: Police
A 70-year-old man has been arrested in the attack of a crossing guard in Glen Rock, officials said.
Daniel Miller, of Glen Rock, was identified by police as the driver of a red 2011 Chrysler 200 who honked, yelled, and then slowly drove towards the crossing guard stationed at Rock Road and Maple Avenue around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said on Monday, Dec. 9.
The crossing guard was helping children cross the street at the time, but no one was injured, and the children crossed safely.

A 17-year-old driver was speeding moments before he mishandled a turn and crashed into a tree in Glen Rock at the Ridgewood border, igniting a fire that engulfed his vehicle, authorities said.
The driver had a 14-year-old passenger with him when, according to witnesses, he “traveled at an unsafe speed within the confines of the Village of Ridgewood along Carlisle Terrace, Ivy Place, and Linden Street” around 6:30 p.m. last Thursday, Nov. 2, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.

Bias Incident: Bergen Man Shouts At Asian Customer That Chinese Caused COVID, Police Say
A 70-year-old Glen Rock man straddled the line between free speech and harassment, police said, when he stood behind an Asian-American woman at a CVS checkout counter and shouted that the Chinese Communist Party "caused COVID."
"That’s why we’re wearing these masks,” the man reportedly yelled, bringing police to the Rock Road store.
He yelled this several times, said the woman, who “felt threatened [because] she was the only Asian individual in the immediate area,” Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.

Glen Rock Police Work With NH, Massachusetts Colleagues To Pursue Fugitive Burglary Suspect
Glen Rock detectives were working with authorities in Massachusetts and New Hampshire to find a fugitive who they said burglarized a borough home.
George N. Spates IV, 30, of Londonderry, N.H. broke into the Nottingham Road residence on Dec. 30, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.
Working with authorities in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, Detective Sgt. Jim Calaski and Detective Lucas Doney recovered some of the stolen property and obtained an arrest warrant for Spates, Ackermann said.
