Social Media Threat Prompts Shelter In Place For Paramus High School, Police Say
Paramus High School was sheltering in place following a threat made on social media on Friday, Sept. 6, police said. School administration called police around 2 p.m. reporting the threat made by a student, Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti said. While the threat was unsubstantiated, officers remained at the school during dismissal, where students were released in stages for their safety, the chief said. The threat comes days after two teachers and two students were shot and killed at a high school in Georgia, the shooter identified as 14-year-old student Colt Gray.

Paramus School Therapist From Washington Township Loses License For Kissing, 'Sexting' Student
A Washington Township youth therapist had her license permanently revoked for making out and exchanging suggestive texts with a 17-year-boy she was counseling from a private Paramus High School, authorities said Wednesday. Tara Cardinale, 39, pleaded guilty to criminal sexual contact rather than go to trial following her arrest by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit earlier this year. The son of former NYPD Commissioner Bernard Kerik was among a group of officers who rushed a Jersey City kosher grocery in an armored vehicle on Tuesday following a prolonged gun battle with a couple who killed a fellow officer and three civilians. Newark Police Detective Joseph Kerik, an emergency services veteran, was treated for bruises at Jersey City Medical Center after the two assailants were gunned down in a hail of bullets. Paramus High School Evacuated, Small Fire Doused
A small fire briefly cleared Paramus High School early Monday afternoon. The fire broke out in a ballast that holds an electric light behind the stage area of the school auditorium shortly after 1 p.m., Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said. Custodians quickly doused the blaze, he said. Paramus firefighters were joined by their Oradell colleagues and borough police. All were able to return a short time later, Ehrenberg said.

Arrangements for 21-year-old Alex Sebahie of Paramus have been finalized. The standout wrestler, who was remembered as a fierce competitor and great friend, died after his car went off the Garden State Parkway hitting a utility pole early New Year's Day. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home in Paramus. A funeral service will be Monday at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of the Visitation on N. Fairview Avenue, with interment to follow at Arlington Cemetery in Kearny. More than $17,000 had been raised on a GoFundMe to aid the family as of Wednesday afternoon. …

Paramus Wrestling Star, 21, Killed In Crash
Paramus wrestling star Alex Sebahie was killed in a crash on the Garden State Parkway in South Jersey before dawn New Year’s Day. The Nissan Altima driven by Sebahie went off the parkway, hit a utility pole and came to rest on the roadway around 4:15 a.m., New Jersey State Police Trooper Lawrence Peele said. Sebahie, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene, Peele said. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home with a funeral service and interment set for Monday. Authorities are seeking the driver who they said struck two Paramus High School cross country runners knocking them to the ground and then fled the scene.
