UPDATE: Not only did Mary Dougherty lose a Morris County freeholder election three years ago. She also admitted Friday that she accepted an illegal $10,000 contribution to the failed campaign. What Dougherty didn’t know at the time was that the contributor was working for state prosecutors. NJ Lawmakers Approve Early Prison Releases For Thousands Of Inmates, It's Up To Murphy Now
It’s now up to Gov. Phil Murphy whether thousands of New Jersey inmates will soon be freed early from state prisons following approval of the move Thursday by the state Assembly. The state Senate, which had already approved a broader version, rubber-stamped the more limited bill that passed the Legislature’s other house. Murphy has said he’ll sign the measure into law. Early releases could begin a little over two weeks after that. Retired Lodi Police Chief Who Was With Navy, Secret Service Becomes Bergen Undersheriff
A retired Lodi police chief who served in the U.S. Navy and the Secret Service will join three former members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office who will be sworn to posts with the county sheriff this coming Monday. Former Lodi Police Chief Vincent Quatrone will be sworn as an executive undersheriff along with David Borzotta and Jin Sung Kim during a 4:30 p.m. ceremony at the Bergen County Courthouse, Sheriff Anthony Cureton said. New Bergen Sheriff Begins Filling Administrative Posts
Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton appointed three former members of the county prosecutor's office to his administration. The appointments of two other new undersheriffs who've also accepted posts will be announced next month, Daily Voice has learned. David Borzotta and Jin Sung Kim were both named undersheriffs. Cliffside Park Democrat Is New Jersey's Youngest Lawmaker
CLIFFSIDE PARK, N.J. -- Clinton Calabrese of Cliffside Park on Thursday was sworn into the state Assembly, making him the youngest New Jersey lawmaker at 31 years old. Calabrese has replaced Democrat Marlene Caride, a new Murphy nominee to serve as commissioner of the NJ Department of Banking and Insurance.
