Multiple Vehicles Destroyed, Damaged In Suspicious Fire At Route 46 Used Car Lot
Three vehicles were destroyed and three others damaged in a suspicious predawn fire Sunday at a used car dealership on Route 46 in Lodi. Lodi police arrived at 4:42 a.m. July 30 to find multiple vehicles in flames and the MTF Auction building off Money Street damaged. Firefighters had the blaze doused in under an hour. There was no extension into the building, they said afterward. No injuries were reported. Playful Pit Bull Rescued From River By Garfield Firefighters
A peppy pit bull named Rocky Balboa jumped into the swiftly-moving Saddle River in Garfield on Friday, requiring rescuers to fetch him. His Passaic owner was walking the year-and-a-half-year-old hound along the riverbank in the area of River Drive and Marsellus Place when he broke free to chase some Canada geese, Garfield Police Lt. Richard Uram said. The current took Rocky downstream after he jumped in, and the owner quickly lost sight of him, Uram said. SADDLE BROOK, N.J. -- Saddle Brook firefighters rescued three dogs from a fast-moving blaze that blew through the roof of their home Monday -- two blocks from the scene of another devastating fire this weekend.
