A Paramus police officer chased down two separate suspects who fled the Bergen Towne Center, authorities said. Two men and a woman all bolted from the Nordstrom Rack, then ran in different directions, after stealing Burberry and Givenchy apparel and a Reaction wristwatch worth nearly $667 combined, Police Chief Robert Guidetti said. Officer Kevin Grady, who was among the responders, ran after Yerbinson Zapata-Zus as he fled east on Route 4 near Forest Avenue, the chief said. A lightning strike ignited a fire in a Paramus home Friday morning. The blaze damaged the second floor of the two-story, wood-frame home on Bullard Avenue, off Forest Avenue, after it broke out at around 8:15 a.m. July 14. A 64-year-old Ramsey man has been charged in a trio of car burglaries at an Armenian church in Paramus, authorities announced. Garo Altunyan is accused of stealing $1,200 from a parked car at the Armenian Presbyterian Church on Forest Avenue on Dec. 27, 2022, Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said. Paramus police said a 16-year-old borough girl reported missing late Saturday was back Sunday afternoon, less than 24 hours later. Gianna Francesco was last seen at 11:30 p.m. Saturday at the Dunkin Donuts on Forest Avenue, they said. Paramus firefighters extricated an injured sedan driver after a Tuesday morning crash with an SUV. Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free the female driver following the crash at the corner of Forest Avenue and Spring Valley Road.
