Seven Vehicles Damaged, One Overturned On Route 17
A seven-vehicle wreck brought firefighters to Route 17 in Bergen County on Tuesday night, Aug. 20, firefighters said.
Miraculously, occupants had self-extricated from the vehicles when firefighters arrived on scene near the Holiday Inn in Hasbrouck Heights around 9:45 p.m., they said.

World Champion Judo Master, Retired Paterson Fire Captain Anthony 'Tony' Camal Dies, 63
Anthony "Tony" Camal, a world-renowned Judo master and Paterson firefighter, died on Monday, July 29, according to his obituary on the Festa Memorial website. He was 63 years old.
Raised in Inwood, NY, Camal later moved to Totowa and Paterson, where he served for 15 years on the fire department before retiring as captain in 2013. He later settled in Woodland Park.
Camal was the head sensei of Camal & Cruz Judo and Jiu Jitsu Academy since 1995, having been a sixth-degree black belt and world champion, according to his obituary. Training since the age of 6, Camal was remembered as a "pill…

A Tenafly home erupted in flames after a tree came crashing through the roof early Saturday, July 6, Englewood firefighters said.
Firefighters from multiple towns were called to the Jefferson Avenue home around 9 a.m. just after a tree fell into a bedroom while the family was home, according to abc7.

Three Firefighters Injured, 50 Displaced In Passaic Blaze, Authorities Say
A fire in Passaic on Sunday, June 23 injured three fighters and initially displaced more than 50 people, authorities said.
At 9 p.m. firefighters responded to a home on High Street, according to a release from the City of Passaic. The fire quickly spread to four homes, forcing firefighters to rescue four people who were stranded on the roofs of two different properties, authorities said.
No residents were injured, though a dog died from smoke inhalation, authorities said. Three firefighters were hospitalized, two from heat exhaustion and one with a shoulder injury, authorities said.
