Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose is asking the public's help locating three people (pictured) wanted in connection with a shooting Sunday.* The victim, identified only as a male, was shot during a fight near 43 N. 6th St. around 7:30 p.m. He was taken to University Hospital for treatment. The suspected shooter (seen in the first photo) was last seen heading north on North 6th Street. Lyft Driver Kidnapped At Gunpoint In Newark, Forced To Make Several Stops
Police in Newark are looking for a group of people who forced a ride share driver at gunpoint to take them to various locations in the area before robbing the driver, Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said. The Lyft driver picked up a fare on the 700 block of S. 18th Street around 3:30 p.m. April 7. Three passengers, who may have been juveniles, entered the vehicle and one pulled the gun. Two robbers wearing ski masks lay in wait as a Papa John’s deliveryman approached a house in Bogota, then robbed him of his cellphone at gunpoint, authorities said. The victim told police he was delivering a pie on Highview Place around 8:45 p.m. New Year’s Day when he was robbed, Sgt. Geoffrey Cole said. The bandits then fled through nearby yards, he said. A fugitive murder suspect from South Carolina may have fled to New Jersey or New York, where he has family, authorities said. Jhonny Wolfran Quintano Vasquez, 23, stabbed and beat the 24-year-old victim to death over the weekend in Williamston, S.C., the Anderson County Sheriff's Department said. Vasquez – also known as “Jhonny Quintaro” – also has family in Virginia and may have gone there, authorities said. South Carolina authorities have charged him with murder in a fugitive warrant.
