Romeo, a former Ram himself, took over as the head coach of the team this season. He spent two years as an assistant coach before moving up.
"Coaching is something I always thought I'd get into," Romeo said, adding that he played three sports at Lodi and also is an assistant coach for the football team.
"The transition wasn't too bad," he continued. "Being with the program two years you kind of recognize and get used to the way things are run."
Lodi went 16-8 and hosted a state tournament game last year but four starters graduated.
Liliann Vizcanio, the lone senior on the squad, said it will take some time to reclaim team chemistry. Vizcanio said she likes the way her coach runs the team though.
"He's very intense," she said of Romeo. "I like the intensity, I like to work hard. We kind of know how he coaches already."
Romeo said his senior leader will be a force on defense and stays aggressive.
Joining her on the court will be Lila Reginald, who Romeo said will be an anchor on both ends of the floor.
Aliyah Williams is a freshman Romeo said he has high hopes for and Kim Cornell will act as a defensive threat.
The 2015-2016 season will be determined by the Rams doing the little things right, the first-year coach said.
"It will depend on how many mistakes we make," he said. "We're very young."
