Garfield is coming off an 8-2 season and a trip to the North 1 Group 3 playoffs. Ridgefield Memorial finished 4-6 last year.

The Boilermakers and coach Jeff DeVito begin with Victorino and Irving, both of whom had big years last year. The Boilermakers set a record for the most wins by a Garfield team since the turn of the century with last year's mark.

Victorino finished with 2,034 yards passing, 24 touchdowns and six interceptions. Irving rushed for 826 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Garfield beat Ridgefield Memorial last year, 34-13. Ridgefield Memorial has not had a winning season since 2006, but last year's 4-6 mark was the best record for the team since going 6-4 in 2005. The Royals also went 4-6 in 2006.
