'You Have 10 Seconds,' Count Down Bandit Tells Garfield Bank Teller

GARFIELD, N.J. -- "This is a robbery. You have ten seconds," a man dubbed the "Count Down Bandit" told a Garfield bank teller before making off with $11,000 in cash Thursday, authorities said Friday.

Garfield police on Friday released surveillance images of the man who they said robbed the bank and walked east on Outwater Lane just after 9:30 a.m.

"There are a lot of similarities from the incident and the 'Count Down Bandit'," Lt. Richard Uram said.

He was described as in his late 20s, 5-foot-8 to 6 feet tall and roughly 220 pounds.

The FBI last month officially connected six bank robberies in Bergen County and one in Passaic County to a man they're calling the "Countdown Bandit" -- and offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest and capture.

Anyone with information that can help Garfield police investigate Thursday's holdup is asked to call them at (973) 478-8500.
