Garfield Police Officer Noah Murphy hoped to snatch the frisky feline, but she ran under his cruiser and "wedged herself deep inside the car carriage," said Lysa DeLaurentis, the city animal control officer.
"We couldn't get to her, and Officer Murphy refused to allow this car to be moved until the cat was safe," DeLaurentis said.
Garfield Fire Company No. 3 came to the rescue, lifting the patrol car with the help of Belfi's Towing and removing the tires (see video, above).
DeLaurentis named her -- what else? -- Murphy.
One other thing: Murphy's pregnant.
