The discovery of a bullet and a casing by officers responding to the 2:15 a.m. incident brought a large police presence -- including a regional SWAT team from the Bergen County Sheriff's Office -- to the neighborhood of the Hang Out Bar across from the Boys and Girls Club on Passaic Avenue near the Main Street bypass, authorities said.

The bullet, the casing and blood were found at the scene, the sources said.

The primary suspect was in an apartment in a building less than a block away that was immediately surrounded by local officers, law enforcement sources told Daily Voice. Some neighboring homes were evacuated.

Hostage negotiators were brought in around 4 a.m. but weren't necessary, they said.

Reached by telephone, the man agreed to come out at 5:15 a.m. Detectives then questioned him.

They were applying for a search warrant in an attempt to locate the gun. CHECK BACK FOR MORE DETAILS
