GARFIELD, N.J. – Garfield police released a surveillance image of an SUV that took off after striking an 81-year-old woman as she crossed a street Monday afternoon.

Garfield police asked that anyone with information that could help find the SUV and/or the driver Immediately call them: (973) 478-8500.

An “older male with grey hair and a beard” was driving the Chevrolet Equinox that hit the victim at the intersection of Outwater Lne and Midland Avenue just before 3 p.m., Capt. Darren Sucorowski said.

The vehicle continued south on Midland Avenue with front-end damage before vanishing, he said.

The woman was hospitalized with unspecified injuries.
