The roommate called police Sunday night after finding 25-year-old Chase Griskonis in his Sherman Street home, despite a restraining order, Garfield Police Capt. Darren Sucorowski said.
Griskonis -- who records show has had a string of drug-related arrests over the past several years -- was yelling profanities and slammed the door as officers approached the room he was in, but they quickly got him into custody, Sucorowski said.
Besides the stolen goods, Griskonis had drug paraphernalia on him, the captain said.
Garfield police charged him with burglary, theft, resisting arrest and contempt of a court order, among other counts, he said.
A judge ordered Griskonis held in the Bergen County Jail pending a bail hearing.
A week earlier, police in Wayne said they found Griskonis swaying back and forth in a Willowbrook Mall department store, crying, with cash at his feet.
He’d committed two gym burglaries – including one in which he returned a set of car keys to a locker after using them to steal a wallet and credit cards from a patron’s car at L.A. Fitness, they said.
After an evaluation at St. Joseph's Hospital in Wayne, Griskonis was briefly held in the Passaic County Jail before a judge ordered him released under New Jersey’s bail reform law.
