PBA president recalls Bergen sheriff’s lieutenant’s love for job, colleagues

A BROTHER IN BLUE WRITES: Brother Brian Beutel was one of a kind. We started together in 2002. Many things I can say about him, but the thing I remember the most was the love he had for his job.

He was always there, came in early and stayed late just to talk with everyone.

I would tell him “Why you still here, bro?” and he would just smile and start talking PBA business.

He was one of my supervisor adviser for the EBoard. Great Knowledge, always attended our PBA meetings and would always ask questions. I loved it caused he would keep me on my toes, but always in a positive way.

He would never fight for anything that would benefit him, but things that would benefit everyone else. He loved his Officers, he let everyone do there job, and if you needed him then he would be there for you.

He ran the Bergen County Jail on the midnight shift. And for those that don’t know he probably the highest Tour Commander in Bergen County with the most Officers on duty.

Brian (#1359) was respected by many and that’s not something you get — it’s something you earn.

The Bergen County Sheriff Office was his second Family, and we will never forget that. On behalf of the Men and Women of the Bergen County Sheriff Office we will miss you dearly. A true Brother in Blue FOREVER….
