Daniel J. Leandry was being held on $175,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and weapons counts.
Off-duty Officer Robert Meehan Jr. spotted Leandry in Lodi on Tuesday and summoned Detective Sean Delahanty, and both grabbed him, Lt. Richard Uram said Wednesday morning.
The spree began on April 19, when Leandry swiped the delivery vehicle from a Macarthur Avenue restaurant, Uram said. It was recovered in Paterson later that night, the lieutenant said.
Then, on April 28, an 18-year-old Macarthur Avenue resident told police he'd just been robbed of $200 after Leandry held a box cutter to his throat and rifled his pockets, he said.
Leandry "also threatened him over social media," Uram said.
He also has criminal mischief and harassment charges pending from separate incidents the past several months, records show.
Authorities in New Brunswick accused Leandry late last October with stabbing two people in his dorm.
Leandry's mother insisted that it was self-defense.
