GARFIELD, N.J. – A Garfield man awaiting trial for having synthetic marijuana was charged with child endangerment and drug possession counts after a raid on his apartment early Wednesday turned up crack, pot and the stimulant methylone, authorities said.

James Bell-Sanders, 27, who has a five-year Bergen County history of drug offenses, was sent to the county jail pending a detention hearing.

A judge in February had released him shortly after police busted Bell-Sanders on synth pot possession charges, records show.

He was awaiting trial when detectives from Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal's office and city police raided his River Drive apartment, assisted by a Bergen County Regional SWAT team and a sheriff’s K-9 unit, after getting a tip that Bell-Sanders was dealing, the prosecutor said.
