GARFIELD, N.J. -- A 30-year-old Polish immigrant from Garfield survived after being struck by a commuter train late Saturday, NJ Transit told Daily Voice.
Mariusz Gebka sustained a broken collarbone after being struck near the Van Winkel Avenue crossing at 11:15 p.m., NJT's Nancy Snyder said.
No one was aboard the train, which was headed to Hoboken with three crew members, Snyder said.
Gebka, who is married with a young son, was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center.
Transit police were investigating whether he was intoxicated at the time.
