“We anticipate using Twitter to give immediate updates to followers on anything from weather alerts, traffic conditions, school closures, hazardous situations and anything we believe the public needs to immediately be notified about,” Police Chief Frank DelVecchio said.

The department will use Facebook more to post upcoming events — including Officer of the Month and Citizen Recognition Awards — as well as bulletins and announcements, the chief said.

DelVecchio isn’t stopping there: His department will soon unveil a retooled website.

As soon as it’s launched, you’ll be able to connect to it directly, or right here on CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
