Shelter Our Sisters’ emergency facility is an older home and is unable to accommodate non-ambulatory individuals. When he became aware of the situation, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said, he instructed his staff to pull the donation from the collection of fines paid by criminals.
“We wanted to assist this effective community-based organization in providing a critical service for our most needy citizens,” Molinelli said.
Those affected are particularly vulnerable because they can’t stay at home but also can’t leave, because they rely on their abuser for financial support.
“This program will ensure the safety and well-being of these vulnerable individuals and will maximize their ability to live safely and as independently as possible,” said Elaine K. Meyerson, Executive Director of Shelter Our Sisters.
(EDITOR’S NOTE: The fact that he waited till after the elections says a lot about John Molinelli. This wasn’t grandstanding. It was clearly a gesture from the heart.)
