Genevieve 'Jean' F. Eluk, 97, Former Garfield Resident

GARFIELD, N.J. -- Genevieve "Jean" F. Eluk, of Garfield, died on Friday, Dec. 9. She was 97.

Born in Jersey City, Eluk lived in Garfield, Saddle Brook, Red Bank and Virginia Beach, Virginia, before she moved to Tulsa. Before she retired, she worked in the accounts receivable office for the Marriott Corporation in Saddle Brook for 25 years.

Previously, Eluk owned and operated Jean's Grocery & Delicatessen on Lanza Avenue in Garfield. During World War II, she worked in the Senior Leadership Payroll Office of the Westinghouse Corporation, in New York City.

She was a parishioner of St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, in Tulsa, and was a former parishioner of St. Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church, in Garfield. 

Eluk is survived by her children, Ron Eluk and his wife Bethany, and Bonnie Niebergall and her husband Dr. Robert Niebergall; grandchildren Jaclyn, Jacob, Eric, Christopher and Matthew; great-grandson David Alexander; and sister Olga Tripple.

She was predeceased by her husband, Steven Eluk, and her brothers Bruno, Stanley, and Joseph Forys.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, at the Kamienski Funeral Home of Garfield, 207 Ray St. The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, at St. Stanislaus Kostka, 184 Ray St., in Garfield. Interment will be in George Washington Memorial Park, in Paramus.
