Crossing Guard Remembered As Part Of Lodi Family

LODI, N.J. — After guiding local children to and from school for two decades, a longtime Lodi crossing guard passed away.

Robert Frank Ferraro, who died on Nov. 1, served as captain of the crossing guards and monitored his post at Thomas Jefferson Middle School. He was 78.

The Lodi Police Department called Ferraro part of its family.

"Robert will be greatly missed," a Facebook post states. "Our prayers and sympathies to his family."

Ferraro worked as a mailman in Hackensack and Hasbrouck Heights prior to retirement.

He was predeceased by his wife Rose, and sister Elaine Miele. He is survived by his children, Cheryl Pirrera and her husband Sal of Toms River and Elaine Stassi and husband Anthony of Maywood. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nicholas, Kristen, Joseph and Robert.

The funeral was handled by Santangelo Funeral Home in Lodi on Wednesday.
