Garfield Motorcycle Run Supports Elmwood Park Foundation For Ill Children

GARFIELD, N.J.– Participants in the fourth annual Riders for Rare Diseases Bike Run in Garfield will raise money for the Let Them Be Little X2 Foundation.

The money raised goes towards children battling rare diseases, a few of whom will be the day's "superheroes," according to founder Jeff Leider.

The foundation was originally created for two Elmwood Park brothers – 9-year-old Jason and 7-year-old Justin – with a genetic disease called MPS II or Hunter Syndrome, which often results in a greatly shortened lifespan. Most children with it do not reach age 15.

The ride is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Sept. 25. It will feature a police escort.

Riders will meet – and finish – at Applebee's, 186 Midland Ave.

Breakfast will be served beforehand. Afterwards, there will be an all-you-can-eat BBQ featuring a pig roast, hamburgers and hot dogs,and more.

There will be live entertainment during the event.

The cost is $25 per rider and $15 per passenger and includes the breakfast and BBQ.

The cost for those planning only to attend the BBQ is $20. Kids 10 and under eat free.

"We may not be able to cure a disease but we can create one smile at a time," Leider said.
