Spencer Savings Bank, which first opened in Garfield in 1939, recently went through an extensive remodel and is now showing the revamped space off to the public.
The goal was to make the facility a better place to bank for the Garfield community. That has been done by expanding the front of the facility, modernizing the interior, adding an additional office, digital signage and coin-counting machine, and personalizing the space with a mural of Garfield.
“Garfield is our heart. It is where we have been the longest, and we have really strong bonds in the community,” said Janel Bazih, vice president and marketing manager for the bank.
Marzena Czachor, vice president and Garfield branch manager, echoed Bazih’s sentiment.
“The bank’s history and values are deeply rooted to the history and values of this community,” Czachor said. “Throughout the years, Spencer has built strong relationships with the businesses, organizations and residents of Garfield.”
The bank partners with local organizations like the YMCA, Boys & Girls Club and Rotary Club to support programs for the city’s children. It also provides financial literacy programs to local schools and awards scholarships to aspiring scholars through the Spencer Scholarship Program.
