Just after pilots finish explaining how technology inside of the helicopter assists police work, they're notified of a felony vehicle — a white BMW with New York plates on the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, on Monday, Feb. 26. They follow the vehicle from the air as it sits in traffic on the Belt Parkway. A kayaker alerted the NYPD after spotting the body of Charles Van der Horst, 67, of Chapel Hill, NC Tuesday morning, they said. It was brought to the Dyckman Street Boat Marina.
