A man was rendered unidentifiable when he was struck and killed by a commuter train in Rutherford. Police found the dismembered body after responding to the call near the intersection of Park and East Erie avenues just west of the Rutherford train station shortly after 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17. A witness said a young man was playing chicken when he was struck and killed by a freight train overnight in Dumont. The victim was pronounced shortly after midnight Thursday, Sept. 1, after being struck by the southbound CSX train at the Madison crossing about 20 minutes earlier. A witness told responders that the young man ran across the tracks trying to beat the train but didn't make it, multiple sources with direct knowledge of the incident said. Man Struck, Killed By Train In Paterson
A man was struck and killed by a commuter train in Paterson, authorities confirmed. The Suffern-bound train had left Hoboken shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday and struck him about an hour later west of the Paterson station, NJ TRANSIT said. The body had to be retrieved from an elevated portion of the tracks, responders said. None of the roughly 60 passengers and crew members aboard the No. 65 Main Bergen Line train were reported injured. NJ TRANSIT police hadn't yet officially determined the circumstances and were investigating.

Train Kills Pedestrian In Somerset County
A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train in Somerset County, officials confirmed. The crash involving Gladstone Branch Train 440 occurred just before 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, July 27 in Far Hills, NJ Transit officials said. No injuries to the three customers or crew members were reported. The train was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken at 12:22 p.m. Gladstone Branch was temporarily suspended between Bernardsville and Gladstone but has since resumed. New Jersey Transit Police are leading the investigation.

A man was struck and killed by an NJ Transit train in Union County Thursday, June 2, officials said. The unidentified pedestrian was hit by Gladstone Branch Train No. 419 around 1:40 p.m. near the Valley Avenue Bridge in Berkeley Heights, the agency said in a release.
