Anthony Somma of Toms River died on Sept. 15 at Cooper University Medical Center after a five-year battle against Ewing Sarcoma, his obituary says. He was 27 years old. A New Year's Eve baby, Anthony was born to entertain, his obit reads. He had a passion for musical theater and "lit up every room he entered." Anthony graduated from Toms River High School East (2014) and pursued a degree in radio, film and broadcasting at Rowan University. College Hockey Player From NJ Dies In House Fire Near Niagara University
The body of a 23-year-old college student from New Jersey was found following a house fire near his university. Patrick Romano, of Toms River, died following Saturday's blaze at a home on Wyoming Avenue in Niagara Falls -- about a mile from Niagara University, where Romano was a junior, university officials said. The fire broke out at a Wyoming Avenue home around 5 a.m. Saturday, and took approximately two hours to control. The cause was under investigation. Tributes mounted as word spread this weekend of the sudden death last week of former U.S. Olympic bobsledder -- and Jersey Shore native -- Pavle Jovanovic. Prosecutor: Toms River Driver Was High, Drunk In Double-Fatal Porsche Crash
A driver was drunk and high when his Porsche careened into the second story of a Toms River building, killing himself and his passenger, authorities said Friday. Braden De Martin, 22, had a blood-alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit during the Nov. 10, 2019 crash that also killed his passenger, Daniel Foley, 23.
