Firefighters Hospitalized, Blaze Destroys Passaic Home As Temps Break 90 Degrees Four firefighters were hospitalized after battling an intense five-alarm blaze that destroyed a multi-family home amid blistering temperatures Wednesday afternoon in Passaic. The quartet was believed to be getting treatment for heat exhaustion, Passaic Mayor Hector Carlos Lora said from the scene of the fire on Union Avenue between Park Avenue and Spring Street. One was brought out and rushed to the hospital by ambulance following a mayday call.
