Palisades Park Man, 31, Drowns In NY Lake During Family Outing
A man on an outing with his family at Harriman State Park drowned after jumping into the lake and swimming about 100 feet away.
The incident occurred in Rockland County around 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 18, at Lake Sebago in Stony Point.
According to Trooper Steven Nevel with the New York State Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that Carlos G. Gomez Tay, age 31, from Palisades Park, New Jersey, was with his family at the lake and went swimming.
Tay swam about 100 feet away from his family and started calling for help, Nevel said.

An 18-year-old woman died and an 18-year-old man was hospitalized after the motorcycle they'd been riding on collided with a Jeep in Bergen County on Tuesday evening, July 9, authorities said.
The 2019 Yamaha motorcycle, operated by the 18-year-old Haverstrawn, NY man, was heading east on E. Palisade Avenue in Englewood when it was struck by a Jeep Cherokee in the westbound lanes, that had been turning left onto Dana Place, Englewood Police Detective Lt. Fred Pulice said.

Northvale PD: Rockland Driver Found Passed Out, Vehicle Running, With Drugs, Booze, Loaded Gun
A Rockland driver who was found passed out with the motor running in a local park Wednesday morning was carrying a loaded handgun, police in Northvale said.
Northvale police responding to a 7:45 a.m. call found Jeremy T. Garcia, 22, of Stony Point out cold behind the wheel -- either from drugs or alcohol -- in Hogan Park, Police Chief Howard Ostrow said.
They smelled burnt marijuana and saw prescription drugs on the passenger seat, he said.
The officers woke Garcia after several attempts, after which he filed field sobriety tests, the chief said.

Paterson Ex-Con Indicted In Ring That Flooded Suburbs With Heroin
PATERSON, N.J. – Federal grand jurors indicted a Paterson ex-con who authorities said participated in a ring that distributed pounds of heroin in Bergen, Passaic and Rockland counties.
Reinaldo “Money” Rodriguez, 29, was part of a network that that stretched from the Bronx to Paterson and into suburban towns in three counties, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said.
He was arrested with a large amount of heroin, as well as a gun that, as a convicted felon, he was prohibited from having, the U.S. attorney said.
