DWI Off-Duty Officer Charged In Double-Fatal Somerset County Crash, Victims IDd: Prosecutor
An off-duty Edison police officer was charged with vehicular homicide in connection with one of the two double-fatal crashes that occurred in Somerset County over the weekend, authorities announced.
Amitoj Oberoi, 29, of Somerset, was charged with two counts of first-degree vehicular homicide, as well as DWI, and several motor vehicle violations, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said Wednesday, Aug. 30.
Oberoi is employed as an Edison police officer and was off-duty at the time of the crash, the prosecutor said.

Fajr A. Williams was apparently strapped incorrectly when her bus went over a series of bumps on Monday, July 17, as Daily Voice previously reported citing the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.

Klaus Meckeler, a gastroenterologist from Somerset County, brought the property at 99 Ocean E. — about a quarter mile off the coast of Marathon, FL — for $25,000, as reported by Tom Avril, of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Born in Germany, Meckeler immigrated to the U.S. in 1958, lived in Far Hills before he moved to Annandale in 1998, 10 years before he died, his obituary says.
