Reports of gunshots inside Cliffside Park High School sent the building into lockdown Friday morning, Feb. 21, but police later determined there was no active threat, officials said.
Cliffside Park Police received two calls about possible gunfire at the high school on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025, at 9:50 a.m., Cliffside Park Spokesman Bill Maer said. Officers responded immediately, securing the school and initiating a lockdown, according to Maer said.

Custodian's Body Found At South Jersey Charter School, Classes Canceled
A South Jersey charter school was closed Wednesday, Sept. 18 after a custodian was found dead as staff arrived, according to authorities.
The body was that of a woman maintenance worker at the Mastery High School on Erie Street in Camden, Dan Keashen, a spokesman for Camden County, said on Thursday, Sept. 19 as school reopened. Her body was discovered in the hallway around 7 a.m., he said.
The woman's name and age have not been released pending an investigation by Camden County Police and toxicology reports, Keashen said. Her death is not considered suspicious, he said.

Boy Impaled By Stick In Wayne While Taking Shortcut Home From School, Police Say
An 11-year-old boy impaled by a stick in Wayne was rescued by his school's resource officer and firefighters using a stokes basket on Monday afternoon, Sept. 16, police said.
The boy and other students from Anthony Wayne Middle School were taking a shortcut home through the woods, which required sliding down a steep hill, Wayne Police Capt. Daniel Daly said.
