UP: Hackensack Firefighters Rescue Workers Stuck In Boom Truck
Hackensack firefighters on Wednesday rescued two workers who were stuck for hours in a crane above the Crow's Nest off Route 17. Members of City Ladder Company No. 1 got the workers down around noon. Their boom truck crane apparently got stuck about two hours earlier, responders said. Both refused further medical attention after city EMS workers evaluated them at the scene.

: 68-Year-Old Hillsdale Woman Rescued After Falling Into Well
A 68-year-old Hillsdale woman was rescued after falling into an 8-foot dry well on Friday. The longtime area resident sustained only minor injuries, responders said. She'd complained of head and back pain, Detective Travis Woods said. It was initially unclear why the well on Trinity Place, near the corner of Liberty Avenue, wasn't covered. Members of the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) team got the woman out safely. : Rappel Team Above, Officers Below Pluck Trapped Female Trio From Palisades
A rappel team from above the Palisades teamed up with a marine officer below to rescue three out-of-state hikers who'd become trapped on a cliff above the Hudson River. The women left the marked trail Monday afternoon and were caught on steep, boulder-filled terrain in the Alpine section of Palisades Interstate Park near what's known as the Giant Stairs, PIP Police Lt. Jock Watkins Jr. said. A 29-year-old man who had to be rescued after falling more than 20 feet at the Paterson Great Falls considers himself lucky to walk away with bumps and bruises. Bergen Tech Students Make Donated Humvee Street Legal For Hackensack Police Department
Doing their part for public safety, a group of students in the Bergen County Technical School Basic Auto Body Class helped convert a donated Humvee to join the Hackensack Police Department’s fleet. The vehicles are used for high-water rescues in the city – which have been happening more frequently with the increased rainfall this year. Responders Rescue 100+ From Flooded Fairview Industrial Park
Firefighters rescued more than 100 people from a flooded Fairview industrial park on Tuesday. Responders used a backhoe and a High Water Rescue Vehicle brought by Ridgefield firefighters to evacuate the industrial park at 815 Fairview Avenue, Fairview Police Chief Martin Kahn said. Rain swelled creeks fed by the Hackensack River, flooding the area just off Broad Avenue.
