: Route 9W Closed After Pickup Slams Into Pole
A driver from the West Coast was hospitalized after he crashed his new pickup truck into a utility pole on Route 9W in Englewood Cliffs, downing wires and forcing the entire road closed, authorities said. The 36-year-old resident of Santa Cruz, CA was taken to Englewood Hospital and Medical Center after his 2023 Ford F150 crashed on Sylvan Avenue just south of Sherwood Avenue shortly before midnight Monday, Aug. 14, Englewood Cliffs Police Detective Lt. Falling Tree In Ridgewood Downs Transformer
A downed tree in Ridgewood on Monday knocked a transformer from a utility pole, yanked down wires, caused some area outages and generally proved to be a nuisance. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Van Splits Utility Pole On Route 4 Approach
A van slammed into a utility pole, splitting it, just off westbound Route 4 on Friday. The driver of the Chevrolet Astro van was checked out at the scene and released following the crash just past Lakeview Street on the Grand Avenue approach to the highway in River Edge shortly before noon Aug. 4. The incident jammed area traffic. All Points Towing removed the vehicle and a crew from PSE&G replaced the pole.

A driver somehow escaped serious injury in Fair Lawn on Thursday when his box truck skimmed a tree, bowled over four street signs and slammed flush into a utility pole, snapping it clean in half. A single-vehicle rollover crash Wednesday night downed utility wires on Route 17 in Paramus. The northbound highway was closed for a little over a half-hour after a vehicle slammed into a utility pole near Midland Avenue around 10:30 p.m. July 12. A 78-year-old driver was hospitalized and received a summons after his SUV collided with another vehicle and slammed into a utility pole in Paramus on Sunday. A 10-year-old passenger in the Honda CR-V was treated for facial injuries at the scene of the 5:20 p.m. July 2 crash on Paramus Road across from Fairway Oaks Park. Firefighters doused a smoky house blaze that began in the basement of a Rutherford home. Victim Critical After Electrical Explosion At Meadowlands Solid Waste Plant
An electrical explosion at a solid waste facility in North Arlington severely burned a worker on his face and side, authorities said.
