Officials have identified the victim of a fatal NJ Transit train strike as a 21-year-old man. Zain Bhatti, of Flanders, was struck by Morris & Essex Line train 6635 just after 3:30 p.m., just west of the Madison station (Morris County) on Tuesday, Nov. 7, NJ Transit officials said. The train had departed Penn Station New York at 2:32 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Dover at 4:05 p.m. There were no injuries to the 60 customers or the crew on board. Person Struck, Killed By NJ Transit Train; Delays Reported
A person was struck and killed by a New Jersey Transit train on Friday, Oct. 13. At approximately 8:05 a.m. North Jersey Coast Line train 3326 struck and fatally injured a pedestrian in the vicinity of Cliffwood Ave., Aberdeen, just past Aberdeen-Matawan station, a NJ Transit spokesman said. North Jersey Coast Line rail service has resumed in both directions between Bay Head and Long Branch after an earlier collision with a vehicle, authorities said. At approximately 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, North Jersey Coast Line train 3312 struck the unoccupied vehicle at Cedar Avenue crossing in Long Branch, according to a NJ Transit spokesman. A woman was hospitalized after being struck by an NJ Transit train Saturday, March 4 in Morris County, officials said. The woman was struck at Convent Station in Morris Township around 2:30 p.m. by Morris & Essex Line train 6926, NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith said. A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train Friday in Elizabeth. Northeast corridor train 3838 struck the pedestrian at the Elizabeth station around 11:45 a.m., NJ Transit spokeswoman Lisa Torbic said. : Service On NJ Transit Trains Restored, But With Lingering Delays
Trains were stopped Wednesday morning between North Philadelphia and Penn Station New York due to a problem with overhead power lines, Amtrak said in a statement. The outage affected Amtrak trains as well as NJ Transit's Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line and Midtown Direct rail service in both directions. Power was restored by about 11 a.m. but NJ Transit said that as of noon service on the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast lines would be suspended, except for trains already en route to their destinations.
