TRIBUTE: Among the remembrances that grew Tuesday of a young man gone too soon was one that spoke to the heart of gold that those who knew Moonachie Firefighter Chris Kucan said he had. "I was fishing this summer and knocked my phone out of my hand into Greenwood Lake," wrote Chris Romano of Little Ferry. "I remember being so upset that I lost every last picture I had of my father before he passed away and didn’t save anything on my phone." Shock mixed with sadness and grief as news spread of the unexpected death of a young Bergen County first responder. Christopher Kucan, 24, of Wood-Ridge, worked as a tunnel and bridge agent with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey at the Lincoln Tunnel. South Hackensack PD: Fleeing Driver Crashes On Wrong Side Of Route 46, Says He Swallowed Heroin
An ex-con who led police on a wild chase into oncoming Route 46 traffic before crashing and trying to run told his pursuers that he’d swallowed several bags of heroin and didn’t want to die, authorities said. Christopher J. Williams, 49, of Paterson was a passenger in a 2000 Lexus stopped by South Hackensack Police Officer Kyle Skelley in the parking lot of the Dunkin’ Donuts on the eastbound highway in Little Ferry shortly before noon Friday.
