Alarm Malfunction Triggers Lockdown, Massive Law Enforcement Response At Westwood HS
An alarm system malfunction forced the lockdown Tuesday of Westwood Regional High School and brought a legion of law enforcement and tactical officers to Washington Township. The entire building was searched following the 11:07 a.m. lockdown, Washington Township Police Chief John Calamari said. The search confirmed there wasn't a threat of any kind and the lockdown was stepped down to a shelter in place. The system malfunctioned a second time after being reset, the chief said. : Report Of Child In Car Trunk Was More Or Less True, Police In Bergen Find
𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘: An eyewitness report of a child climbing into the trunk of a woman's car over the weekend in the Pascack Valley area of Bergen County was at least partially true, it turns out. It wasn't an 8-to-10-year-old child who got into the trunk of a sedan on a Washington Township street with the assistance of a woman in her mid-30s, as the "witness" reported. Boy, 15, Robbed Trying To Buy Sneakers In Washington Township Shopping Center Lot
A 15-year-old Bergen County boy was robbed when he tried to buy a pair of used sneakers from a stranger at a local shopping center, authorities said. The boy arranged through a mutual friend to meet the stranger, who showed up Thursday in an SUV with a companion at Washington Town Center on Pascack Road, Washington Township Police Capt. Attempted Abduction Of Boy, 13, Reported At Washington Township Shopping Center
A 13-year-old boy told police two men in a pickup truck tried to abduct him near a busy Washington Township shopping center on Saturday. Police were interviewing him, reviewing area surveillance video and looking for witnesses among the crowd of shoppers and businesses in an attempt to corroborate his account. Accomplished Washington Township Police Veteran Rises To Chief
A highly respected Washington Township police veteran and accomplished instructor is now its chief. Chief Richard Skinner, who’d recently served as the department’s officer in charge, officially took the position on Monday. “This was a very competitive process [that] highlighted the talent, knowledge and commitment of our entire command staff,” Mayor Peter Calamari said.
