Former Lyndhurst High School Varsity Football Captain Nick Cimicata died on Thursday, March 16. He was 20 years old. Nick played basketball and football at Lyndhurst High School (Class of 2021), where he was also the vice president of Future Business Leaders of America, his obituary says. Affectionately known as "Nicky Blue," he also served as the coach of Savino's in the township's Little League program, and as a 10U travel coach. Champion Lyndhurst Grappler Frank W. Schrimp III Dies, 29
Lyndhurst native Frank William Schrimp III of Lyndhurst died on May 18. He was 29 years old. Schrimp of Towaco was known for his quick wit, humor and looks. He was a loyal friend to many and always held his mother’s words, “I dance to the beat of my own drum” close to his heart. Frank was a black belt in Aikido & Jujitsu and was a champion grappler. Lyndhurst Teacher Michelle Rogan Dies Weeks After Cancer Diagnosis
Heartbreak swept the community Saturday, March 24, following the death of local preschool teacher Michelle Emily Rogan. She died two days after her 49th birthday. Last month, Rogan was rushed to the hospital complaining of severe shoulder and back pain. After endless tests, she was diagnosed with stage IV uterine cancer that had metastasized to her liver, bones and lymph nodes. Michelle, a teacher at St. Michael Angel Academy, started chemotherapy immediately but treatment had to be discontinued due to excess fluid that built up in Michelle's lungs. Hackensack Native Brett Verdicchio Dies, 39
HACKENSACK, N.J. — Brett Anthony Verdicchio, a Hackensack native, died on Jan. 7 in Del Ray Beach, Fla. He was 39 years old. Brett was raised in Campbell Hall, N.Y., and shined as an athlete throughout his life. He played on the Goshen football team and was a star pitcher for the Goshen baseball team. He graduated from Goshen High School in 1997. After graduating from Orange County Community College and attended St. Francis University on a Division 1 baseball scholarship.
