Bergen County Figure Skating Community Mourns Loss Of 'Rink Mom' Rosanna Alfieri
The Bergen County figure skating community is mourning the loss of Rosanna Alfieri, who many say served as a mom to them. Alfieri died due to COVID-19 complications on April 10. She was 57 years old. A GoFundMe for Alfieri's daughter, Alexa Nazarko, had raised more than $6,700 as of Monday morning. Nazarko is a 3-time National US Games Champion. An ice skating coach from Hackensack sexually abused a youngster in Edgewater, authorities charged. Andrew Lavrik, 32, of Summit Avenue was released Monday pending further court action following a detention hearing in Hackensack on charges of criminal sexual contact and child endangerment. Despite being the first team to break 180 points in the 2018 Winter Olympics ice dancing competition, Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje of Fort Lee finished in the top 10 of the event. The pair -- representing Team Canada -- went into Monday evening's competition with a short dance score of 74.33, before scoring 107.65 and finishing with a 181.98.
