Family Opens North Jersey Restaurant Following Food Truck Stint
Paul Apostolopoulos has graduated from the food truck to the storefront. Apostolopoulos with his wife, Jen, have opened Rock'n The Grill, a new restaurant in Glen Rock. Previously, Apostolopoulos ran a food truck in Paterson at The Home Depot. "We fell in love with Glen Rock and we wanted to open a restaurant here," Jen said. "We love the small town feel. Everyone has been so warm and inviting. It's a wonderful community." Already, Glen Rock has been responding to Rock'n The Grill. In its first week, the restaurant sold 1,100 burgers. "It was insane," Paul said. "I just keep hearing 'b…

Olympian Who Trained In NJ Bringing Peruvian Restaurant To Amazon's New Virginia Headquarters
An Olympic rower who spent three years training in New Jersey is bringing the restaurant that he opened as a food truck with his brother 10 years ago to Amazon's new Virginia headquarters this summer. Giuseppe Lanzone, who trained as a rower with Team USA in Princeton from 2006 to 2009, and Mario Lanzone, say the opportunity to bring Peruvian Brothers to HQ2 in Arlington was one they couldn't turn down. “We came [to America] to look for a better future,” the former Olympian said. “I feel like I am living the American Dream... and we are still trying to achieve that every day.” The brother…

Totowa Taco Joint That Started As Food Truck Replacing Shuttered Ridgewood Restaurant

This will be the second Sombrero location. Sombrero was launched as a food truck by a family with hopes of one day having their own restaurant. "Our menu of tacos, quesadillas, and burritos was a hit," the website says. "People loved them! Tender carnitas marinated overnight, succulent grilled shrimp, a range of house salsas – our menu was coming together." It became a family affair, with…

Bergen County Mom Rolls Out 'Who Cut The Cheese Lady' Food Truck
A Paramus mom has left the corporate food industry to bring North Jersey the area's first-ever grilled cheese food truck. Brenda Picone earlier this month rolled out the "Who Cut The Cheese Lady" truck (brilliant, right?). She says it was all an accident. "I always had a passion for cooking," said the Boston native, "but never in a million years thought about a food truck." Picone had plans for retirement -- but those fell through. She needed a back-up. After doing some research, Picone discovered that grilled cheese food trucks existed -- but nowhere near P…
