Convicted NJ Burglar Bound For Federal Prison Following Elizabeth Shooting
An ex-con who once left his cellphone behind after a home invasion in Woodbridge is headed to federal prison in connection with a shooting earlier this year in Elizabeth. Kevin Cordeiro, 34, of Elizabeth, pleaded guilty Monday in U.S. District Court in Newark to being a convicted felon in possession of ammunition. Cordeiro was one of several men in masks who stormed a Woodridge home in 2008, beating a resident and his girlfriend, before fleeing empty-handed, authorities said at the time. Bergenfield PD: Repeat Ex-Con With Medical Emergency Caught Carrying Stolen Gun
What began as a medical emergency at a local Taco Bell ended with the arrest of a Florida ex-con with an extensive criminal history who asked a Bergenfield police officer to watch what turned out to be a stolen gun for him, authorities said. Michael Kanzer, 49, formerly of Rutherford, told Officer Gregory Slater that he needed to go to the hospital for an unspecified reason after the officer responded to the Washington Avenue eatery, Detective Lt. FBI: Wanted Armed, Dangerous Paterson Gang Member Surrenders
An armed and dangerous ex-con from Paterson surrendered to authorities after the FBI posted a $5,000 reward for his capture. Cesar David Valerio, a 28-year-old Dominican national, turned himself in to face several federal weapons violations, a bureau spokeswoman said. A U.S. District Court judge in Newark two weeks ago issued a warrant for the arrest of Valerio -- also known as "Chico Trini" -- after federal authorities charged him with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
