Three SUVs were involved in a crash that rolled one of them in Franklin Lakes. An occupant of the overturned Chevy Tahoe was taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood for evaluation following the noontime crash Thursday, June 15, at the intersection of Ewing Avenue and Franklin Lake Road. The driver of a Mercedes GLS complained of pain but refused medical attention at the scene, Police Capt. Mark McCombs said. A motorist from Waldwick was intoxicated when police in Franklin Lakes found her and her disabled Jeep near the scene of a single-vehicle hit-and-run crash, authorities said. Andrea L. Wilkin, 44, was turning left onto Ewing Avenue from Franklin Lake Road when her 2021 Wrangler left the roadway and smashed into a curb shortly after 10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, Capt. Mark McCombs said. Bear Struck, Killed On Route 208
A motorist escaped injury when her sedan struck and killed a small black bear on Route 208, authorities said. The 30-year-old Haskell resident was headed north by herself on the highway when her 2016 Subaru WRX hit the bear between Ewing and Summit avenues in Franklin Lakes around 11 p.m. Friday, Capt. Mark McCombs said. She was OK, but the vehicle had to be towed, McCombs said. The state Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Fish and Wildlife collected the bear.

Franklin Lakes Police Car Struck On Route 208, Rockland Driver Charged With DWI
A wrong-way driver was drunk when he crashed his sedan into a Franklin Lakes police car on Route 208, authorities said. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured when the collision occurred near Ewing Avenue and Route 287 shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday. Behind the wheel of the 2009 Acura, Franklin Lakes Police Capt. A dump truck driver escaped serious injury in a crash Friday near the Haledon Reservoir in Franklin Lakes, authorities said. Borough firefighters extricated a 61-year-old driver from Wayne after her 2017 Accord collided with the tipper on Ewing Avenue at Water View Drive shortly after 10 a.m., police Capt. A drunk driver from Franklin Lakes got out and ran for home after his SUV rear-ended another on a Route 208 exit ramp -- then returned to the scene as police were investigating, authorities said. Brian Hogan, 60, was driving a 2010 Mercedes Benz that struck a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 21-year-old West Milford man at the stop sign on Ewing Avenue off the northbound highway at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, according to a police report. Franklin Lakes Driver, 76, Was Drunk When He Crashed Sports Car Into Wall, Police Charge
A 76-year-old Franklin Lakes man was drunk when he crashed his 2018 Ford Mustang into a rock wall and took off, authorities said. Police arrested Cecil Wright near his Oak Lane home a short distance from the Ewing Avenue crash around 6 p.m. Monday, Capt. John Bakelaar said. Wright, who wasn’t injured, was released pending court action on charges of DWI, leaving the scene of a crash and reckless driving, the captain said.
