Riders Suffer Broken Bones As Segway Scooters Fold Mid-Ride, Sparking Massive Recall Two popular Segway electric scooters are being recalled after dozens of riders were injured when the handlebars or stem collapsed mid-ride, sending some crashing to the ground. More than 220,000 Segway Ninebot Max G30P and Max G30LP KickScooters are affected by the recall, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a news release on Thursday, Mar. 20. Segway has received 68 reports of folding mechanism failures, according to the CPSC. The incidents include 20 injuries such as abrasions, bruises, lacerations, and broken bones. The woman apparently had turned down an aisle when the man exposed himself at the CVS on West Palisades Avenue shortly before 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, Englewood Police Lt. Fred Pulice said. Scooter Rider Critically Injured In Passaic Crash An electric scooter rider was clinging to life Tuesday morning after being struck in Passaic, responders said. Witnesses said the late-30s victim ran a red light and was struck by a minivan at the intersection of President and Parker Streets shortly after 10:30 a.m. He was unconscious when taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, responders said. The driver, meanwhile, remained at the scene and cooperated with police, who notified the Passaic County prosecutor's fatal accident team. City firefighters and EMS also responded.

Electric Scooter Rider, 48, Struck, Killed By SUV In Jersey City A 48-year-old man riding an electric scooter died after being struck by an SUV in Jersey City, authorities said. The rider was struck by a 56-year-old woman driving a Nissan Rogue on the 700 block of Ocean Avenue around 4:20 p.m., Jersey City officials said. The victim was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. The Nissan driver had not been charged as of Friday. The identities of the victim and driver were not released.
