Heroes: Stolen $3,000 Intended For Wayne Food Pantry Recovered, Returned, YMCA Cleaner Charged
A cleaning company employee swiped $3,000 in cash and gift cards intended for the poor from the Wayne YMCA, but local investigators came to their rescue, authorities said.
Danny Figueroa, 37, of Paterson took two sets of Apple AirPods, one set of Samsung earbuds and a set of master keys to the facility in addition to the $3,000 earmarked for the Wayne Interfaith Network Food Pantry, Detective Capt. Dan Daly said.
The cash and property had all been in locked offices, the captain said.

A passenger was found toting a loaded handgun during a traffic stop, Haledon police said.
Officer Jeffrey Welsh stopped a Nissan Altima whose driver failed to signal a turn on Belmont Avenue shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday, Capt. George Guzman said.
The driver also failed to produce proof of registration or insurance, he said.

Stabbing Victim, 73, Staggers Into Hawthorne Police HQ, Accused Assailant Quickly Caught
A 73-year-old man staggered into Hawthorne police headquarters bleeding from a stab wound, authorities said.
As he was rushed to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, officers captured his accused assailant, borough resident Ryan Thompson, 44, about six blocks away.
The victim survived his wounds.
Thompson, meanwhile, was charged with attempted murder and weapons offenses, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Hawthorne Police Chief James W. Knepper said in a joint announcement Thursday.

Continuing a “supply and demand” disruption strategy, Paterson detectives busted three dealers and three middle-aged buyers while seizing more than 1,000 heroin folds, authorities said.
Surveillance of the notorious corner at Rosa Parks Boulevard and Fair Street led to the arrests of Tameer Jones, 35, of Paterson and Crystal Kim, 33, of Little Ferry on dealing charges, among other offenses, Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said.

An out-of-state man who was selling drugs outside his mother's Paterson apartment was nabbed with two handguns, high-capacity magazines, hollow-point bullets and 60 heroin folds, authorities said.
Artavius Howard, 22, of Little Rock had been free pending trial last month following an arrest out of Mercer County when city detectives watched him sell to walk-up buyers outside a Governor Street building, Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said.
