A married food service worker from Fort Lee was charged with sexually assaulting an underage teen, authorities said. Nelson Reyes Jr., 38, sexually abused the child, who was between 13 and 16 at the time, in Fort Lee, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said on Thursday, July 6. Records show Nelson was arrested on aggravated assault and illegal weapons charges in Fort Lee in July 2019. A judge released him after two days under New Jersey’s bail reform law. A Bayonne man was arrested for giving two girls alcoholic beverages and then sexually assaulting one of them, authorities said. Michael Serrano, 29, gave the 14- and 15-year-old girls alcoholic drinks, then parked behind a building on Lefante Way and sexually assaulted the 14-year-old in the back of the car on July 16, 2021, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Oakland Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Two Kids
An unemployed Oakland man sexually assaulted two pre-teens, authorities said Wednesday. Leonel DeJesus-Alvarado, 36, was arrested after Oakland police received a 911 call Monday that the child had been illegally touched at a local residence, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. An investigation with the prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit determined that he “sexually touched one juvenile on one occasion and another juvenile on multiple occasions,” Musella said. Guest Helped Armed Robbers Who Broke Into Montclair Home During Party: PD
A 20-year-old Montclair man was accused of working with two teens who broke into an apartment during a party and held up guests at gunpoint, police said. Officers responded to the Pine Street home around 10 p.m. Friday, where they spoke with a victim and Jonathan Funderburk. Maywood Detectives Make Arrest In Sex Abuse Of Girl, 14
A 14-year-old Maywood girl was sexually abused by a Belleville man, said authorities show arrested him. Carlos Cardenas, 40, of Belleville was arrested by borough detectives after investigating a claim from another law enforcement agency that the girl was victimized in town last summer, Police Chief Joseph Natale said. Cardenas was released under New Jersey’s 2017 bail reform law pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack. Manhattan IT Company Owner From Leonia Charged With Raping Palisades Park Woman
The Leonia owner of a midtown Manhattan IT company was charged with raping an incapacitated woman from Palisades Park. Prosecutor: Lodi Teacher, Mayor's Daughter Charged In Student Sex Case
Authorities arrested a 32-year-old Lodi middle school teacher who they said exchanged sexual photos and engaged in "inappropriate sexual conduct" with a student under 16 years old. Stephanie Carafa, 32, is a teacher at Thomas Jefferson Middle School and the daughter of longtime borough mayor Emil Carafa. She was arrested Saturday on charges of child endangerment and aggravated criminal sexual contact, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo said. A detention hearing is scheduled for Nov. 2 in Hackensack.

Englewood Man, 70, Charged With Touching, Kissing Underage Girl
A 70-year-old Englewood man was jailed after a juvenile told investigators he touched her on her upper inner thighs several times and kissed her lower back and neck, authorities said. Anthony Romain remained held in the Bergen County Jail following a first appearance Friday in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack. Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo said investigators with his Special Victims Unit and Englewood police arrested Romain on Thursday after receiving a report a week earlier. Romain is charged with aggravated criminal sexual contact and child endangerment.
