The funeral at Christ Tabernacle Church was broadcast to thousands of police who gathered outside who joined their city brethren in protest of the rhetoric by diBlasio and others that they say directly contributed to the cold-blooded executions of Ramos and Officer Wenjian Liu as they sat in their cruiser on a Brooklyn street corner.

All turned back again for NYPD Commissioner William Bratton, who promoted both Ramos and Liu to detectives first grade.

Buses, vans and other modes of transportation brought countless officers from Bergen County and other parts of New Jersey — among them, hundreds of New Jersey State Police troopers. They melded with law enforcement officers from as far west as Washington State.

A block from the church, a retired city police officer held up a sign: “God Bless the NYPD. Dump de Blasio.”

After speaking of Ramos, the mayor offered to “extend my condolences to another family — the family of the NYPD — that is hurting so deeply right now.”

Police say he cannot fathom the depth of comments that have only seemed to incite the kind of hatred and contempt that would prompt the deranged gunman to kill the two officers.

The week before the shooting, New York City Patrolmens Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch suggested police officers sign a petition demanding that the mayor not attend their funerals if they die on the job.
