Two Cleared After Unfounded Shooting Report At Port Authority Bus Terminal

FORT LEE, N.J. -- Two men were questioned and released following an unfounded report of a man with a gun at the Port Authority bus terminal in midtown Manhattan Thursday morning, Daily Voice has learned.

The 911 callers "were mistaken" and didn't do anything criminal, the authority's Joseph Pentangelo told Daily Voice.

Word traveled, however.

"Somebody put it out there and a ton of media rushed to the terminal," Pentangelo said. "Then they left."

"The call came in as an active shooter at the terminal," a law enforcement source told Daily Voice, adding that two people were being questioned.

The news came as a relief to a Daily Voice reader from Maywood.

"They told my husband at work not to enter the city because there was an active shooter at the terminal," she said.
