The 911 callers "were mistaken" and didn't do anything criminal, the authority's Joseph Pentangelo told Daily Voice.
Word traveled, however.
"Somebody put it out there and a ton of media rushed to the terminal," Pentangelo said. "Then they left."
"The call came in as an active shooter at the terminal," a law enforcement source told Daily Voice, adding that two people were being questioned.
The news came as a relief to a Daily Voice reader from Maywood.
"They told my husband at work not to enter the city because there was an active shooter at the terminal," she said.
