FORT LEE, N.J. -- A tractor-trailer driver from Yonkers used fishing line to flip up the license plate of his rig to avoid the E-Zpass toll at the George Washington Bridge, Port Authority police said.

Officer George Kwiecinski spotted the white 2006 Freightliner with no front plate around 7:15 p.m. Monday, the authority's Joseph Pentangelo told Daily Voice.

The rear trailer plate "was bent up to defeat EZPass security cameras," he said.

After stopping the truck, Kwiecinski found the front plate "rigged on a hinge with monofilament fishing line that ran into the cab," Pentangelo said.

It "ended on the dash, where the driver could control it to conceal the plate -- pulling it up out of view -- and then restore the plate into view after exiting the toll and and security cameras," he said.

Javier Marte, 41, was released on a summons charging him with tampering with public records and theft of services.
